THE ARNOLDII ARTS CLUB/ GILLMAN BARRACKS PRESENTS DRIVE, an outdoor public art project that features a four month long curated exhibition of art installations by galleries, the public and international artists. The project had took off since the start of the 2014 Grand Prix Season Singapore (GPSS) and will come to a conclusion during the Art After Dark celebration that is held in conjunction with Singapore Art Week this year.
I FEEL THAT THIS DRIVE IS A WAY TO GROW VISIBILITY FOR GILLMAN BARRACKS AND AT THE SAME TIME ARTISTS WILL GROW IN GILLMAN BARRACKS.
The outdoor art exhibition features a wide range of artworks, from large-scale wall murals by up-and-coming Indonesian artist Maryanto, a blown-up photographic print by one of our favourite local household name, Dawn Ng, to a sculpture by local emerging artist, Wong Lip Chin. These artworks done by the participating group of Singapore-based artists will present various meanings of the curatorial theme- Drive, which suggests a journey or the operation of a vehicle, as well as connotations of energy and psychological motivation.
Alongside these art exhibits, various DRIVE artists will also be discussing certain significant Art topics at monthly educational arts appreciation programmes helmed by the Arnoldii Arts Club.
Members of the public who have not yet caught a glimpse of DRIVE can do so before 25 February 2015 by following the trail with a location map in hand.
DRIVE X Art After Dark Art Week Celebration will be held on 23 February 2015, 7pm at Gillman Barracks. The ‘Best Public Art Work Prize Giving Celebration’ will also take place during the event. For more information, kindly visit http://www.artdrive.com.sg/
