What Is Morton Neuroma?

Morton neuromas is a condition in which damage is done to the nerves that normally connect the toe to the other toes, leading to excruciating pain and numbness. This condition commonly occurs in women than in men and it more often happens in the toe on the outside of the foot. The cause of this type of neuromas is unknown. However, it is believed that there are different factors involved in the occurrence of the neuromas such as the genetic predisposition, poor circulation, injury to a nerve or abnormality of a structure of the brain.

The Morton neuromas usually show a characteristic thickening and swelling of the nerve, which causes the condition to be referred to as Morton neuromusculargia. Morton neuromas is a very painful condition that can be caused by many factors. One of the most common factors is stressed. The Morton neuromas are caused by the excessive tension that a person puts on the nerves when he is working, playing sports, doing household chores or sleeping. When the person is working on something, his hands are usually extremely sweaty and he may even have difficulty breathing and performing simple tasks like writing, using a computer or taking care of his other physical needs.

Other factors that can cause the Morton neuromas are a defect in the nervous system. There are patients who are born with this type of condition and there are others who are genetically predisposed to develop it. It is also believed that some people have problems with their nerve cells. In certain cases, the condition is caused by some abnormalities in the structures of the brain and these abnormalities can be inherited as well.

Because Morton neuromas usually affect the nerves that travel from the toe to other toes, they are also called Morton's neuromusculargia or nerve inversion neuromas. When you have Morton neuromas, the nerves of the toe will be affected and they will become irritated and it will cause pain and numbness in your feet.

There are various treatments for this condition. Doctors usually perform the treatment using local anesthesia, and the operation is known as neurosurgical excision. However, if neuromuscular disease is not treated early, the condition can deform the bones of the foot or toes, making it difficult to walk or even walk.

Nerves can also be damaged if a tumor or abnormal growth of nerve cells develops. Sometimes, people with this type of neuromuscular pain can suffer from Parkinson's disease, diabetes, arthritis, fibromyalgia, and other conditions. The only way to be sure that Morton's neuromas are caused by tumors is to undergo a thorough diagnosis and medical analysis.

If you are one of those with this condition, it is important to consult a doctor so that he or she can perform some tests to diagnose and treat your condition. One of the tests that is usually done to determine if the disease is actually caused by tumor growth is called magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In MRI tests, the doctor uses high-energy radiation to create images of the patient's bones to check if the bone is healthy.

To treat Morton's neuromuscular disease, your doctor may recommend surgery or radiation therapy. There are many different treatments for this condition, but there are treatments that can take a long time. In the end, it all depends on the doctor, how serious the condition is.
