Cervical Breakage Explained

Cervical vertebrae are the bones and soft tissues that make up the neck, spine and thorax in vertebrates

 

In vertebrate animals, the cervical skeletal system consists of seven cervical thoracic vertebral bodies (T7), five midline cervical thoracic vertebral bodies (T6), and one lumbar, thoracic vertebral body (T5).

 

The Cervical vertebra is the most important bone of the human body as it supports the head and neck. It attaches the upper neck to the trunk through a muscular anchoring ligament known as the carpal tunnel ligament. The Cervical vertebra can be divided into four different parts that are commonly found in humans: The Neck (neck), the Neck and Spinal Artery (neck) or cervical spinal cord, Thoracic, and Lumbar. Cervical vertebrae are essential for the efficient functioning of all the body's musculoskeletal system.

 

Cervical vertebra is made up of two types of bones, called osteocytes. The first type of bone, referred to as the Osteoblasts, are the ones that grow from the asteroid. The second kind of bone, called Chondroblasts, are ones that grow from the osteoid bone and attach to other bones of the body. These two bones, which have many bones growing from them, create a strong structure of the cervical vertebral body and make it easy for the human body to move and stabilize itself.

 

Cervical vertebra is considered to be the strongest skeletal structure in the entire body. Cervical vertebra is so strong that it can support the entire weight of an adult human. Cervical vertebra has been known to resist the impact of several objects such as a truck, falling off the roof, and falling down stairs. The strength of the Cervical vertebral body is also strong enough that it has been known to resist the impact of an ice pick (a small sharp object) hitting the Cervical vertebral body. With the strong and durable nature of the cervical vertebral body, it is not uncommon to see cervical vertebral fractures and dislocation in some people.

 

The cervical vertebral body has many nerve roots that run through its surface

 

They are the most sensitive part of the body in relation to pressure and movement. These nerves are responsible for the sensation in the face, ears, eyelids, and the neck. When there is any abnormal motion of the Cervical vertebral body, pain will be felt at these sensitive areas. If there is some damage to these sensitive nerves, it can cause severe pain.

 

There are several cervical vertebral fractures that are caused by an accident or trauma. Some of these injuries occur when the Cervical vertebral body of the neck is damaged due to the fall or jerking of the neck. This type of fracture can easily result in partial or full loss of motion. The Cervical vertebral body can also be damaged by breaking bones that are inside the cervical body or even breaking bones of the spinal cord.

 

Some of the injuries that can result in fractured Cervical vertebral body include fracture of the cervical disc, breakage of the cervical spinal cord, or fracture of the skull. Any of these injuries can result in complete paralysis and may lead to death if proper treatment isn't administered. Surgery is usually required when a fracture in the Cervical vertebral body is due to trauma.

 

Cervical fractures are very common but it is not uncommon to miss one or two days of work because of a fractured vertebral body. In order to prevent these types of fractures from happening, it is important to make sure that the right cervical protection is being used during activities and especially when the neck is flexed during sports like skiing or snowboarding.
